I thought I would put my thoughts re the current weather and the state of the country here. I warn you now this is a grumpy old man moment.
Yes it is snowing and for this time of year, this is unusual. But why when it does snow does the whole country grind to a halt! Absolutely ridiculous! We do get snow in the winter every year! The news often quotes that the UK is never prepared because we do not spend enough on planning to cope with the snow.
And if the Police want to be taken seriously on weather warnings and whether we should travel, stop coming out with the usual statement 'do not travel unless absolutely necessary'. If they made this statement as an exception, I am sure most drivers would listen. But this seems to be a frequent statement from the Police during the winter!
Anyway heavy snow here but the main roads are clear. The side roads require care but that is about it for this area. North Notts much worse by the sound of it!
And the local schools close at the drop of a snow flake! Or if not, they do not close but teachers cannot make it in. We are based in a rural area so that may be the reason.
End of grumpy old man moment.
Nearly! Just remembered only other news item apart from the snow is UK World Cup bid! So basically nothing happening at the moment. Mind you, after looking at the Npower advert where small businesses will benefit from the World Cup bid if successfully, I better keep resource free for then! NOT!!

Passport
Opps! Just discovered passport expired in Jan 2010. Retrieved an application form from the Post Office and found a great place for passport photos using a local photographer. Wife needed 2 photos for her blue badge renewal and, try as we might, we could not get the photos done at 2 of the photo boothes or a local pharmacist. So we find a local guy who returned the pics to use next day! Brill!
Anyway, I will book a slot with him in the next day or two to get the pics done. Application form completed bar old passport number and then I will check PO to check pre send. Hopefully will have a new passport within a month (ish!).

Just installing the Iphone version 4 update onto my iphone! Requires a new version of Itunes but all looking good. Keeping an eye on the deals coming up to replace my iphone as I have been out of contract (fixed term) since March 2010. I would be very lost (would not be able to manage my business) without my iphone!!

Crisis what crisis!!!!
A close call at FPC this week. I have been known to rely heavily on coffee to keep me working during the day. And I like strong / real coffee! So when the Tassimo machine broke Monday this week (as in switched on as usual and there was a flicker of the red light and spark and then nothing), a crisis was brewing.
So there was a short conversation for a back up plan - flasks and coffee from a local cafe. Then onto the Amazon site to find a replacement.
A few more old fashioned anglo saxon words as I found the price of the base tassimo has gone from £70 (paid Nov 09) to £90. No postage obviously as I am a Prime customer. A little more searching to find that the Amazon is the best price. So ordered Tuesday and delivered Wednesday and, as the Microsoft advert says, crisis averted!!
Now perfectly happy with regular coffee!
